International Films
The festival showcases international feature films spanning genres- from avantgarde cinema to dark humour, there is certainly an exciting foreign experience waiting for everyone. Highlights include Yorgos Lanthimos’s Kinds Of Kindness, starring Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons and more. The triptych fable explores three intertwined stories: a man struggling to gain control of his life, a policeman disturbed by the return of his wife who was lost at sea, and a woman on a mission to find someone with a unique ability destined to become a remarkable spiritual leader. Lanthimos’s work is just the start of the impressive list of international creatives showcasing their work at the Revelation Film Festival- including new work by legendary director Bruce La Bruce!
Australian Films
Don’t worry Revelation Film Fest hasn’t forgotten about the talent it has at home, Australian features such as Birdeater, directed by Jack Clark and Jim Weir offer fresh perspectives on human relationships. Set in the Aussie Outback this “beer-soaked chaos” of a film is an epic watch. The Lies We Tell Ourselves is another legendary Australian feature. A blend of mockumentary, experimental cinema, and comedy, following a director’s quest to complete a new arthouse project. The movie itself becomes a meta-narrative, capturing the film within the film and its own making. It’s the epitome of smart, funny, and self-aware cinema – a must see at the festival this year!
Other Films
More offerings include Indie comedies, poignant dramas and coming of age narratives. As well as fantasy and horror options. The festival really has something for everyone! Especially those who are art enthusiasts, as they’ll be happy to hear that works of photojournalists as well as musical documentaries are on offer too!
International Family Animation Explosion
Rev also celebrates the return of the International Family Animation Explosion, a specially curated selection of family-friendly international short animations from around the world. Perfect for all ages—including first-time moviegoers. This event will take place on Sunday, July 7th and 14th, at the State Library of Western Australia.
