The Story

Based on the 1991 animated film, this stage adaptation holds its own impressive legacy. The original Broadway production ran for an astounding 13 years, cementing its place as one of the top 10 longest-running shows in Broadway history. This new production is a vibrant fusion of nostalgia and innovation. While it cherishes the spellbinding songs including iconic numbers like “Belle,” “Gaston,” “Human Again,” and the show-stopping “Be Our Guest”. It introduces spectacular new sets, breathtaking costume designs and state-of-the-art technology. The result? A timeless romance brought to life with unparalleled grandeur.

The Cast
Adding to the local excitement, the stellar Australian cast features some familiar Perth faces! Our very own Shubshri Kandiah takes on the iconic role of Belle, alongside Brendan Xavier as the Beast, Rohan Browne as Lumiere, Gareth Jacobs as Cogsworth and Jayde Westaby as Mrs. Potts. What’s more, Wanneroo-raised WAAPA graduate Rodney Dobson plays Belle’s beloved inventor father Maurice and Perth-born performer Emma Dawson joins the talented swing cast. The magic extends behind the scenes too, with members of the original, ground-breaking Broadway creative team returning to reimagine this classic. This is the same collective genius that garnered five Tony® nominations and a win for Hould-Ward’s costume design when Beauty and the Beast first debuted on Broadway over three decades ago.
