Catch The Winter Sunrise at These Picturesque WA Spots

  • May 8, 2023

Western Australia is known for its pristine beaches and stunning landscapes, that are framed perfectly by mesmerizing sunrises. Our beautiful state provides an array of breathtaking locations to witness a sunrise. Showing off an unforgettable array of colors and experiences. Here are some of the best spots that are worth an early wake up to witness the sunrise over and maybe take a couple of pictures along the way.

Pinnacles Desert

Witnessing the sunrise at Pinnacles Desert, located in Nambung National Park is an experience like no other. In the dawn light, the ancient limestone formations take on a golden glow as the sun’s rays illuminate them. Making it feel like you’re in a whole new world!

Bluff Knoll

Located 4.5 hours south of Perth, Bluff Knoll is a must do if you’re up for an adventure and a hike. Towering over the Stirling Ranges, this popular trail features 360 views at its peak making a perfect spot to catch the sunrise over the Ranges.

Cottesloe Beach

Local hotspot Cottesloe Beach is known for its clear water, soft sand and pristine waters. Take a trip in the early morning to witness the stunning sunrise as the sun wakes up slowly above the Indian Ocean. Look out from the grassy steps, sandy shores or one of the many local cafes in the area!

Kalbarri National Park

Well known winter escape Kalbarri is home to its National Park’s Mount Scott Lookout, which presents an ideal location to watch the sun come up over the Murchison River. Hiking to the mountaintop rewards visitors with stunning sunrise views overlooking the vast and untouched landscape.

Cable Beach

Located in Broome, Cable Beach is widely known as one of Australia’s best beaches. Catch a once in a lifetime experience by riding a camel along the shores in the early morning light. If camels aren’t quite your vibe, there are plenty of cafes along the shoreline with stunning views. As well as plenty of spots on the famous white sand for a picnic.

The Gap and Natural Bridge

Albany’s rugged coastline is home to The Gap and Natural Bridge, an iconic site offering spectacular views. Here you can watch the sunrise as the waves crash against the rocky cliffs below from the safety of one of the best lookouts in WA.
