Watch a Live Gold Pour

Ever wondered how those shiny gold bars you’ve only ever seen in movies are made? Witness the amazing spectacle of a traditional gold pour in The Perth Mint’s original melting house. See the pure gold heated to molten temperatures and transformed into a gleaming solid gold bar before your eyes. This attraction takes you back in time to imagine what it was like when the melting house was in full swing from 1899 until 1990.

See The World’s Largest Gold Coin

Did you know that The Perth Mint has held the Guinness World Record for the largest gold coin since 2012? See the iconic Australian Kangaroo One Tonne Gold Coin in person! Measuring at about 80 centimetres wide, 12 centimetres deep and made up of 99.99% pure gold. It is the biggest, heaviest and most valuable gold bullion coin in the world! Having toured all over the world, the monumental coin is now on permanent display in The Perth Mint’s gold exhibition.

Explore The Gold Exhibition

Continue your journey by exploring the gold exhibition, where you will find an incredible collection of gold-nuggets and specimens. Such as Newmont’s Normandy Nugget, which is the second largest gold nugget still in existence and The King Henry specimen and The Karratha Queen Nugget, which are two of the most valuable gold and silver specimens in the world all found right here in WA. You can even find out your value in gold by standing on scales!
