First Ever Studio Ghibli 35mm Film Fest is Coming to Perth!

The fifteen films being shown at the first ever Studio Ghibli film festival in Perth

Experience the magic of Studio Ghibli on 35mm film at a one-of-a-kind festival at the Como Theatre! A celebration of the enchanting world of the acclaimed Japanese animation house. Across 18 days the festival will showcase 15 iconic titles from the legendary studio. With all screenings presented on 35mm film for an authentic cinematic experience. This extraordinary event is an Australian first. With the collection specially curated by the local cinephiles at Revival House Perth.

About the Festival

From Thursday the 21st of November to Sunday the 8th of December the Como Theatre will welcome audiences of all ages. Indulge in beloved films as they were meant to be see – on the big screen in their original Japanese language with English subtitles. But don’t worry, you’ll also be able to experience the magic of Studio Ghibli in English. With select dubbed screenings also available!

Screening Lineup

From Hayao Miyazaki’s timeless masterpieces like My Neighbor Totoro and the Oscar-winning Spirited Away. To beloved favourites like Princess Mononoke and Howl’s Moving Castle. The lineup is a treasure trove of imaginative storytelling that for both young and old. Whether you’re a long-time fan or ready to dive into world of Ghibli, this festival promises a memorable cinematic journey that transcends language and culture. The full lineup can be found on their website.

Tickets & Showing Times

Screenings will take place at various times of day with both matinees and evening screenings to cater for all ages and preferences. The full screening schedule times can be found here. Tickets for the Festival are available now at normal cinema admission prices. If you’re keen to see more, check out the festival pass that offers unlimited access to all screenings for just $200 (+bf).
