Yagan Square will welcome the community back with a grand reopening celebration this weekend (April 27th and 28th). Illuminate Yagan Square will feature more than 50 free things to do, see and enjoy from 11.00am until late, across the two days. There is a slice of experience specially crafted for all ages and tastes.
The festival features dynamic live stages, interactive attractions and roving entertainment programmed from day into night across five zones. For families and children, Illuminate presents a program of engaging free activities including circus school. As well as AWESOME Arts kids markets, temporary tattoo bar and a one-man circus. Along with favourites like face painting and a glitter bar, plus pop up food treats and the new Yagan Square adventure playground!
Secondlife Markets
Horseshoe Bridge will be closed to traffic and transformed into the well-loved Second Life Markets on Sunday. The Bridge will be a marketplace of the best of WA fashion reinvented. With more than 80 individual stalls featuring everything from exquisite blooms to vintage fashion and handcrafted treasures galore!
The Light Maze
Enter a fascinating realm of light and colour with this inventive blend of art and architecture by German architect Ben Busche. The two-metre triangular dichroic panels produce an array of colours that shift and dance with every angle. And interact with the reflection of those moving through, as well as changing by day and night.
Amphitheatre
The main Amphitheatre will represent Perth culture with Colombian, Latin, Brazilian, K-Pop and Aboriginal Australia performers in dancing, drumming, and song throughout the program. There is a lineup of live music featuring some of hottest talent coming out of WA. A spot to grab a bite to eat and enjoy WA music at it’s finest!
Stories
This weekend offers the chance for you to grab first bite of much anticipated multi-level super-venue Stories, who will host their opening weekend launch party on Saturday from 5.00pm. Registrations are now open to receive a free VIP invitation to attend the celebration and be the first to experience the five levels, nine bars, open air dance floor, a secret bar, and the city’s biggest beer garden. As well as an epic selection of live DJs, roving performers, food, drinks, treats and giveaways at the party.
No tickets are required for this event that is open to all ages from 11.00am to late on April 27th and 28th. We recommend bringing your own blankets or cushions for seating in the amphitheatre.
