They offer a range of workshops from introductory classes, kid friendly sessions and even wheel throwing accompanied by natural wines. Their team of experienced teachers make it easy for anyone to get their hands dirty with clay, with their bonus pottery dog Neo in studio to lend a helpful paw.
Earth & KLĀ
Taking a different approach to pottery, Earth & KLA focuses on the meditative feeling that comes with clay making and feeling grounded with the tactile process. Their welcoming space in Wembley provides classes ranging from high tea to downtime workshops, with an in studio store showcasing all of their own wonderful creations to inspire first time potters and provide a backup plan if your design doesn’t quite go as planned.
ClayMake Studios
This mother and daughter run studio in Maylands opens their doors to anyone with an interest in clay and ceramics. ClayMake is the perfect place to learn the craft for the first time. They provide classes to learn handbuilding techniques, wheel throwing and school holidays programs for kids. Even catering for specific niches such as sculpting human forms and creating vessels for ikebana (japanese flower arrangement).
House of Hobby
Known for their wide array of fun and creative workshops, House of Hobby boasts a huge choice of pottery classes in various locations around Perth. They team up with local artists to bring you fully inclusive experiences! Get creative whilst munching on a grazing platter, sipping free flowing beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic options) or relaxing with a tea or coffee. Sandra’s home studio, set in her peaceful garden in O’Connor is open to all skill levels for casual classes. She offers both hand building and wheelwork workshops. As well as a large selection of glazing and firing techniques such as: bisque, saggar and raku. With Sandra’s 40+ years of experience with all things clay, you’re sure to learn a lot and have fun doing so.
Not Yet Perfect
Not Yet Perfect was established in 2018 by Lucy Aboagye whose creative past led her to open her own pottery studio in Applecross. Boasting a view of the Swan River in a nature retreat style venue. The vast amount of workshop offerings ensure there is a fit for everybody. Including wheelwork with a focus on mindfulness, date night packages, kids pottery and of course the ever popular wheel and wine nights.
Prickly Pear Studios
Newcomer Prickly Pear Studios is a super cute women run pottery studio in Fremantle. There team of potter extraordinaires are fun loving creative ceramists who are there to guide you through the whole process. Classes include handbuilding workshops, wheel throwing, school holiday programs for kids and four week courses. Your creativity is encouraged to run free at Prickly Pear. This mother and son founded studio was born out of a love for pottery and a passion for teaching, an obviously brilliant combo. Perth Pottery Co. is a beautifully rustic studio located in Inglewood, that makes all of it’s visitors feel right at home. If you’d like to get into hand building pottery this is the right spot for you!
