Introducing Perth’s newest refined Japanese restaurant: Hiyori in Manning. Embodying an intentional approach to dining, encouraging guests to immerse themselves in the experience! The food and drinks are there to be enjoyed and facilitate these valuable moments. Bought to you by the team behind popular bento restaurant in Mount Pleasant, JBento.
Hiyori’s aim is to nourish the soul with food, drinks and most importantly the company of others. The menu features an array of thoughtfully curated dishes using the best of local and Japanese ingredients. Including local wagyu beef carpaccio and grilled local extra large tiger prawns served with shio negi sauce. As well as savoury yakitori using local free-range chicken and miso-braised beef short ribs, delicious! The exquisite dishes are made with premium ingredients and presented with elegance and care.
Venue
The venue has been designed with a unique approach in mind. Carefully crafted to help diners focus on life’s essentials. By borrowing concepts from books like Just Enough Design by Taku Satoh. Featuring locally designed and made furniture (PCI laser cutting), pottery (Happy Hub Collective) and lighting shades (Lumiere Shades). Even the playlist is created by a local DJ, Harry Pike. From the choice of paint type to the materials of the furniture, lighting, choice of crockery to food plating; everything is designed to convey that simple can be beautiful.
Owner Juliana Koh explains her reasoning behind the venue design “modern life has a way of putting too much into our lives… We want the dining experience to move away from that. Hiyori means fine weather, clear sky, harmony, and that is what Hiyori wishes to bring into the hearts of those who visit.”
About The Owner
Hiyori is an amalgamation of all that Juliana has experienced in her life. From growing up in a family of great cooks who were particular about the quality of ingredients. To her grandfather who used to own a fish farm in the 1960s, cultivating the family’s love for the freshest seafood. Her love for Japanese cooking stems from her frequent travels to Japan in her younger years. With this love of food, travel and Japanese culture leading to her career in hospitality. This passion has been passed on to one of her sons, Jerome Mark Amin; who curated most of Hiyori’s menu.
