The Performance
Embark on a stunning new journey, as The Lord of the Rings unfolds in a critically acclaimed live stage production to capture imaginations, like never before. The story begins with the Hobbits celebrating Bilbo Baggins’ eleventy-first birthday in the Shire. Where he gifts his nephew Frodo his most precious belonging; a gold ring. This fateful and iconic moment leads Frodo on a legendary and perilous quest across Middle-earth to the darkest realms of Mordor. Vanquishing evil with his loyal Fellowship. The dynamic score is performed live by the company on stage, weaving together original music with storytelling.

Starring some of Australia’s most acclaimed musical theatre performers and actor-musicians, including Jemma Rix as Galadriel, Ian Stenlake as Saruman, Rob Mallett as Strider and Rarmian Newton as Frodo Baggins. With Laurence Boxhall as Gollum, Hannah Buckley as Pippin and Stefanie Caccamo as Arwen. Joining them is Terence Crawford as Gandalf, Wern Mak as Samwise Gamgee, Connor Morel as Gimli and Conor Neylon as Legolas.
A Wonderful History
The Lord of the Rings – A Musical Tale had its initial production at The Watermill Theatre in the United Kingdom, and US premiere at Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Both receiving rave reviews! The musical features a book and lyrics by Shaun McKenna and Matthew Warchus. With original music by Academy Award winner A.R. Rahman, Finnish folk band Värttinä and Tony Award winner Christopher Nightingale.
