The Perth Mint is turning 125 this June 20th and they want to celebrate with you! So much so that they’re giving you the chance to win a Golden Ticket and free rides on golden nugget- themed rickshaws between Forrest Place in the Perth CBD and The Perth Mint. Available from 9am to 3pm on the 20th of June in both directions as well as fairy floss (10am -12pm), selfies with a gold shimmer wall backdrop and a special Perth Mint Gold Tour.

Win the Golden Ticket

To celebrate The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary, they’re giving away a Golden Ticket to one lucky visitor. The prize includes lifetime free entry to paid tours, a 125th Anniversary 2024 1oz Silver Typeset Collection and a $125 gift voucher to The Perth Mint jewellery boutique. As well as a personalised opal medallion and even the chance to hold a freshly poured gold bar. All you have to do to enter is attend a Perth Mint Gold Tour between now and the 20th of June this year. Whilst on the tour, simply complete and submit the entry form for your chance to win. The lucky winner will be drawn on the 21st of June 2024, terms and conditions apply.

A Little Bit of History

Let’s take a trip down The Perth Mint memory lane and have a look at some of the highlights from their 125 years. Since opening on June 20th 1899, minting their first coin in 1922 and opening the exhibition in 1993 they’ve had a lot of achievements! Such as producing gold medals for the iconic Sydney Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2000 and minting the world record holding one tonne gold coin in 2011. Learn all about the history of the Mint and gold in Western Australia as a whole during a tour!

Tour Activities 

The Perth Mint Gold Tour is full of exclusive activities to the Mint that are definitely worth a visit. Watch a live gold pour in The Perth Mint’s original melting house. You’ll see pure gold heated to molten temperatures and poured into a gold bar, with the number 125 imprinted until the 30th of June to celebrate their anniversary. Next see the Guinness World Record holding Australian Kangaroo One Tonne Gold Coin in person! It is the biggest, heaviest, most valuable gold bullion coin in the world and it’s even bigger than you’d think.

Continue your tour by exploring the gold exhibition, where you’ll find the Mint’s vast collection of gold nuggets and specimens. Take a look at the second largest gold nugget still in existence, two of the most valuable gold and silver specimens in the world and the chance to hold a large gold bullion bar. Always wanted to know your weight in gold? Jump on the scales to find out! Coin collectors rejoice by discovering the Mint’s very own historic coin collection featuring pieces you can’t see anywhere else.

After your tour is over, continue the fun by browsing the stunning range of jewellery, coins, bullion, nuggets, souvenirs and much more on offer at the gift shop. You can even take a piece of The Perth Mint home by designing your very own medallion and choosing a special message to be engraved.
