If you’re looking for a new restaurant to take you on a culinary adventure, we’ve found one of Perth’s best new openings you have to try! Ludo brings European dining to South Perth in the best way possible. Delighting your tastebuds, whilst enjoying the incredible atmosphere.
Having only been open for a month, this new South Perth food and wine hotspot brings style, and substance, to a rapidly evolving inner city neighbourhood. The melding of heritage architecture with contemporary design sees you seated in a completely transformed basement amongst chandeliers and cozy table arrangements. You’ll enter feeling as though you’ve been flown across the world to a restaurant in Paris. With an accompanying live pianist welcoming you in on weekends!
The Chef
Ludo gets its name from head chef Ludovic “Ludo” Mulot. Who joined hospitality company NOKTURNL in 2020 after nearly 10 years with Rockpool Bar & Grill in Sydney and then Perth. The menu is the culmination of Mulot’s professional experience cooking both at home, in France, and subsequently around the world. With a focus on classic values, paired with Mulot’s extensive experience that started in the Loire. Took him to Paris and the famed Alain Senderens’ three-Michelin star Lucas Carton, and ultimately to Australia working with Neil Perry and Khan Danis.
With an emphasis on sharing, the seasonal menu showcases the very best of local produce and continental cooking techniques. Promising adventurous, globally inspired food built around classic French technique and, as much as possible, WA produce. Our top picks are the baked camembert, creamy chicken and mushroom vol-au-vents, casarecce ratatouille and grass fed ribeye on the bone. All are incredibly delicious and like nothing we had experienced from Perth dining before! Paired with their inventive cocktails, like the blood orange daiquiri, plum royale and le henny sour. Your taste buds are in for a treat!
NOKTURNL
So who is behind this swanky new restaurant? Ludo is apart The Station, which is the latest project by NOKTURNL. The group that bought you some of the best new places around Perth. This includes Fremantle’s The Old Synagogue and Highgate’s The Beaufort with their numerous satellite venues such as Tonic Ginger, Lotus and The Arbor.
Ludo is open for lunch on weekends (Friday to Sunday) and for dinner every night from 5:30 PM until late. We highly suggest booking a table if you’re thinking about treating yourself to dinner on the weekends, as tables fill up quickly!
